This article explains the steps to join National Defence Academy
Step 1
Every student who will give his 10th board exam in March has to take his first NDA entrance written exam in September month next year. Hence he has 14 months in his hands for the preparation.
Step 2
NDA entrance written exam has two papers Maths and GAT( General Ability Test ) based on total 10 Subjects namely
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Current affairs
- General Knowledge
- Biology
- English
- History
- Geography
- Polity
Passing cut off level in each subject is compulsory. Hence plan your steps such as achieving capacity to clear cut off level , then merit level , then your choice level. These levels are just to divide your big goal in small goals to measure progress of your preparation so that you will get confidence of achieving final goal. In Aacharya Academy we teach all the syllabus of all the subjects in time. To design these steps we have divided the entire syllabus in seven phases and three levels. Step 3
After 10thyou have to take admission for 11th and hence you have to choose correct stream for you. In stream selection you have to consider two points your NDA preparation and your plan B. Following table will help you

The test will remain same for all Science , Arts and commerce students. The science students will have maximum advantage as their syllabus will match with NDA syllabus and because of science side they are eligible for all the positions. Plan B will have your second career option which you can achieve with the same preparation and will give similar life style that you want.
Step 4
After selection of stream you have fixed your targets and what to study. Now plan your daily schedule. A good planner is a ladder to success. Your planner will include your daily time table , learning hours , travelling hours, self study units and schedule and many more points. For this do as following
- Evaluate yourself
- Decide your needs Decide what external helps you will take to overcome your weakness and various needs Decide how can you make your strengths promising for getting the results
- Find out your strengths and weakness
- Set your short goals to achieve big targets. You must build the ladder of your success.

Step 5
Challenges in the preparation of NDA written exam
- In one year you have to complete all the syllabus so fix your prime requirements in the preparation
- You have to gain the speed to solve one question in one minute so assign enough time for the practice
- You have to gain the stamina to solve 120 maths questions and 150 GAT questions ; measure the growth in stamina
- You have only 150 min for each paper
- Keep updating General knowledge and current affairs
- Remember what you study till the exam.
- Update your vocabulary and language skills
Step 6
SSB interview is a five days program. On first day there is Screen in test. Those who qualify this test are recommended for the main interview and disqualified candidates have to go back. The main interview has various tests. Those who can participate actively in various activities will get good advantage to prove themselves in this exam. The candidates recommended by service selection board(SSB) will go for their medical test.
Step 7
In medical tests doctors will confirm that you are fit for Military training. Through various medical test doctors will confirm that your physical condition is good for hard military training and it will not cause any problem to you during your service. Getting the tag medically fit is necessary for joining the training.
Step 8
You have to maintain your board studies along with your SSB preparation. Immediately after SSB your board exam will come. The final merit list of recommended candidates will come in April or May when SSB tests of all written qualified candidates will over. Merit list is based on your marks in Written test and SSB interview. If you are medically fit then as per your merit you can join NDA. Achieving good merit is necessary to avoid merit out condition.
